A visit to the island of Azizapke is only recommended accompanied by a local, because only a few boats go across the river to the island and the islanders are not accustomed to tourism. Please contact Ada Foah Tourist Board, which offers an interesting tour to the traditional coconut oil production on the island. Or contact Dexter Adoboli (Tel: 0540964486), who heads the dance and drummimg group AMARIA there.
The AMARIA dance and drumming group was founded on the initiative of the former director of the elementary and middle school on the island of Azizapke, Mr. Frank Adjavon. It is supported by the Volta-River cultural association, based in Munich, Germany. On Saturday afternoons, young people from the island of Azizapke practice historical dances to keep the memory of the local history alive. The exercises are open to the public. The group is also looking for a new sponsor for the year 2018. Perhaps you know someone who is also concerned about youth work on a musical level?
